Our Mission
At the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Lubbock, we come together to nurture spirit, celebrate community, and work for a more just and compassionate world. We welcome people of all faith backgrounds, life experiences, and identities to join us in a shared journey of discovery, love, and service.

Our Philosophy
We believe that every person is inherently worthy of love, dignity, and respect. As Unitarian Universalists, we draw wisdom from many sources—science, world religions, human experience, art, and nature—and honor each individual’s search for truth and meaning. What matters most is not that we all believe the same, but that we live our values together with courage, compassion, and joy.

Faith, for us, is lived out in deeds, not creeds. That means caring for each other, standing for justice, and living in harmony with the earth. We are guided by the Unitarian Universalist Principles, including our Seventh Principle, which reminds us of the interconnected web of all existence of which we are a part.

As a congregation, we are proud to be both a Welcoming Congregation and a S.A.C.R.eD Congregation (Spiritual Alliance of Communities for Reproductive Dignity).
 

• As a Welcoming Congregation, we affirm and celebrate the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and nonbinary people. We strive to create an environment of true inclusion, where everyone is encouraged to bring their full selves into our community.

• As a S.A.C.R.eD Congregation, we are committed to supporting reproductive freedom, dignity, and justice. We believe that people should be trusted to make their own moral and medical decisions about their bodies, and we stand with those seeking compassion, care, and respect in these deeply personal choices.
